AI Feature Requirements

The current version uses the following requirements for AI features.

  • Summaries, ToDo extraction, and overview generation: available by connecting an OpenAI (ChatGPT) account.
  • OpenAI and Claude API keys: optional alternatives, not required.
  • Transcription: processed on device on supported OS versions, languages, and recognition paths. Translation: processed on device when Apple Translation or an on-device model is selected, the required data is installed, and online fallback is not used. DeepL, OpenAI, and other online methods require a network connection.
  • macOS only: LLM Manager provides read-only MCP registration commands for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex.
