Mac Transcription Guide
How to Transcribe on Mac for Free
Instead of dividing your attention between a meeting and constant note-taking, record and transcribe the conversation live on your Mac. LogPon! is free to start, and you can continue from the same record to translate the conversation or organize meeting notes.
- Transcribe spoken words live while recording
- Use on-device transcription on supported recognition paths, with local translation through Apple Translation or an on-device model
- Connect ChatGPT only when you want a summary
The Free plan lets you access content from the last 14 days. Upgrade to Pro if you need continued access to older records.

Start Transcribing on Mac in Four Steps
Install LogPon! for Free
Get LogPon! from the App Store. The first time you open it, grant the permissions macOS requests for the audio inputs you plan to use, such as microphone or screen recording access.
Check the Spoken Language and Audio Input
Choose the meeting language on the new recording screen. If you want translation, select a target language and translation engine. For Apple Translation or an on-device model, make sure the required language data or model is installed. For an online option such as DeepL or OpenAI, confirm your internet connection and required settings.
Start Recording When the Meeting Begins
Name the session and start recording. Spoken words appear as text as the meeting continues, so you can follow the transcript without stopping the recording. After the meeting, return to anything you missed with its timestamp.
Review the Transcript and Summarize When Needed
After the meeting, review the transcript in the full transcript tab. Connect a ChatGPT account to organize key points, decisions, and action items from the same record. You do not need to connect ChatGPT for transcription alone.

Turn a Transcript into a Record You Can Use After the Meeting
A transcript becomes easier to revisit when each session keeps its title, full text, overview, and media together. Treat an automatically generated summary as a draft: compare important decisions and proper names with the original transcript before relying on it.
For confidential meetings, tell participants why you are recording and how the recording will be handled before you begin. Follow your organization's policies and all applicable local laws.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mac Transcription
Can I use LogPon! for Mac for free?
Yes. You can start recording and transcribing for free. Translation is also available at no cost when you choose a compatible local path and have the required language data or model installed. The Free plan lets you access content from the last 14 days; choose Pro to keep accessing older records.
Do I need ChatGPT or an API key to transcribe?
No. Depending on support for your OS, language, Mac, and selected recognition path, transcription uses either on-device recognition or Apple's speech recognition service. For translation, you can choose a local option such as Apple Translation or an on-device model, or an online option such as DeepL or OpenAI. You can connect a ChatGPT account when you want summaries or organized action items; an OpenAI API key is optional.
Can I transcribe without an internet connection?
Under certain conditions. Offline transcription is available when your OS, language, and selected recognition path support on-device recognition and the required speech recognition data has already been downloaded. Offline translation requires Apple Translation or an on-device model, the necessary language data or model installed, and no online fallback. DeepL and OpenAI require an internet connection.
Can LogPon! record both microphone and system audio on Mac?
Yes. LogPon! for macOS supports meeting capture using microphone and system audio. The first time you use it, follow the macOS prompts to grant the permissions required for your selected inputs, such as microphone and screen recording access.
